Organizational Development

A ministry that runs well, without burning people out.

When your structure, systems, or culture start working against your mission, I help you find the real cause and fix it. Bring me one specific problem, or keep me in your corner for the long haul.

The real problem

Good people, stuck in a system that doesn't work.

Most ministries grow one hire, one program and one workaround at a time. Nobody designs the whole thing. Then one day the structure that got you here starts holding you back.

The symptoms look like people problems: frustration, turnover, conflict, exhaustion. Often the cause is how the work is organized. These are the issues I see most often.

Unclear roles

People work hard but aren't sure who decides what, so work gets done twice or not at all.

Everything runs through you

Every decision lands on the senior leader's desk, and the whole ministry waits on one calendar.

Good people burning out

Your best staff and volunteers carry too much, and you're starting to lose them.

Systems held together by workarounds

Hiring, budgeting and communication depend on one person remembering how it's done.

You've outgrown your structure

The org chart fit a smaller ministry. It doesn't fit the one you lead today.

Culture has drifted

What you say you value and how things actually work have quietly moved apart.

Two ways to work together

Solve one problem,or build a healthier ministry.

Some ministries need one specific issue fixed. Others want an experienced leader at their side over time. Both start with the same first conversation.

One-time project

Focused Engagement

For one specific issue you need solved. We define the problem, I dig in, and you get a clear answer and a plan to carry it out.

Best when

  • Your org chart or staff roles need to be redesigned
  • You're facing a key hire, a restructure or a leadership transition
  • A team or department isn't working and you need to know why
  • A system or policy gap keeps causing the same problems

How it works

  1. Define. We agree on the issue, the goal and the scope.
  2. Diagnose. I talk with your people, review your structure and documents, and find the real cause.
  3. Recommend. I give you written findings and a specific plan, then walk your leaders through it.

What you walk away with

  • A candid written assessment of the issue
  • Specific recommendations, with an owner and a date for each step
  • A follow-up check-in to make sure it's taking hold

Long-term relationship

Ongoing Advisory

For ministries that want an experienced operations leader in their corner. I get to know your organization and help you build it well, one season at a time.

Best when

  • Your ministry is growing faster than its systems
  • You don't have a senior operations leader on staff
  • You're new in the role and want a trusted outside view
  • You're heading into a long season of change

How it works

  1. Assess. I start with a full look at your structure, systems and culture.
  2. Prioritize. Together we pick the few changes that matter most right now.
  3. Meet regularly. We meet on a set rhythm to work the plan, solve what comes up and adjust as you grow.

What you walk away with

  • A standing advisor who knows your ministry and your people
  • Counsel between meetings when something can't wait
  • Sessions with your leadership team or board when you need them

Talk About Ongoing Advisory

Not sure which fits? That's what the first conversation is for. Schedule it here.

How it starts

Every engagementstarts the same way.

Whether you need one problem solved or a long-term partner, we begin by understanding what's really going on.

Schedule a Conversation
  1. 1

    A first conversation

You tell me what's happening and what you've tried. I'll tell you honestly what I see, which way of working fits, and whether I'm the right person to help.

  2. 2

    A custom proposal

If we both think we'd work well together, I'll send a written proposal with the scope, the timeline and the cost. No surprises.

  3. 3

    We get to work

A focused engagement runs to a clear finish. Ongoing advisory settles into a regular rhythm. Either way, every conversation ends with a clear next step.

What I bring

The heart of a teacher, the experience of a leader.

I started as a teacher, and I still am one at heart. I'll help you fix what's broken and leave your team better equipped to run it without me.

Experience from the inside

Teacher, principal, executive director of a large church, and now operations for a global ministry. I've built these systems, not just studied them.

An honest outside view

I'm not inside your system, so I can see what's hard to see from where you sit. And I'll tell you, with care and without spin.

Sized for your ministry

No corporate playbook forced onto a church. The structure and systems we build fit your staff, your budget and your calling.

Common questions

Before we start.

A few things ministry leaders often ask about this work.

How do we know which option is right for us?
If you can name the problem and want it solved, start with a focused engagement. If the issues keep coming and you want someone who knows your ministry over time, ongoing advisory is the better fit. We'll sort it out in the first conversation.
Can we start with a project and continue after?
Yes. Many ministries start with one focused engagement. If it goes well and there's more to do, we can move into an ongoing relationship.
Do you work onsite?
Most of the work happens by video call and email. When it helps to be in the room, such as staff interviews or a leadership team session, I can come to you.
What does it cost?
Every ministry is different, so there's no one-size price. After our first conversation, I'll send a custom proposal with the scope and cost in writing.
How is this different from your other services?
Executive Advisory is one-on-one counsel for the senior leader. Ministry Strategy sets direction and builds a plan. Organizational Development is about how the ministry runs: its structure, systems, roles and culture.

Schedule a conversation

Let's talk about how your ministry runs.

Pick a time that works for you. Tell me what's working, what's stuck and what you've already tried. You'll leave with a clearer view either way.
